If the action team takes on projects, maybe not everyone in the team wishes to do the same projects therefore they can build separate “project teams” to deliver different projects. The action team can decide how best to format and run such project teams. The action team should always consider the two key principles of volunteer management

  • Interest: Allow/encourage people to get involved in projects that interest them

  • Skills: Understand and appreciate the skills (or lack of skills) of the project team and manage accordingly, ensuring not to overburden individuals with tasks they are not comfortable with as this will ultimately lead to volunteer disillusionment and losing members
